Inauguration Ceremony of Jianlong-USTB Mining Research Institute Successfully Held

On October 30, 2025, the inauguration ceremony for the Mining Research Institute jointly established by China Jianlong Group and University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) was held at Tiangong Building in Beijing. Zhang Zhixiang, Chairman and President of Jianlong Group; Yuan Zhanyong, Vice President of Jianlong Group and Chairman of Huaxia Jianlong; Li Jinqian, Vice President of Jianlong Group and General Manager of Huaxia Jianlong; Wu Guilong, Party Secretary of USTB; Shao Anlin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zhang Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of USTB, attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque for the Mining Research Institute. Zhou Zhenhua, Deputy General Manager of Huaxia Jianlong and General Manager of Baotong Mining, presided over the ceremony.

Yuan Zhanyong, Vice President of Jianlong Group and Chairman of Huaxia Jianlong, expressed gratitude in his speech for the strong and sustained support from the university's leadership. He pointed out that the formal establishment of the Mining Research Institute marks a new stage of substantive cooperation between the two parties, providing significant intellectual support for the company's development. Yuan emphasized that talent is the core driving force for enterprise development. The company will deepen emotional connections and broaden talent selection channels through project cooperation, continuously build platforms and create conditions for talent growth, and fully implement Chairman Zhang Zhixiang's directives on technological innovation and talent development.

Zhang Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of USTB, reviewed the solid foundation of cooperation between the two parties in his speech, mentioning that since the 1990s, they have accumulated deep friendships and fruitful results in many fields. The establishment of this joint research institute aims not only to break through technological bottlenecks in the mining industry but also to focus on solving critical challenges in mineral resource development, thereby enhancing the efficiency of resource exploitation and utilization. He hoped that both parties would take this inauguration as an opportunity to further deepen strategic cooperation, actively integrate into the national technological innovation system, share R&D platforms, jointly cultivate innovative talents, and promote the transformation of research achievements. By focusing on key areas such as smart mines and resource recycling, they would jointly drive the mining industry toward high-quality, green, and intelligent development while serving the national resource strategic security.

During the symposium, relevant leaders of the Mining Research Institute reported on the progress of ongoing projects and subsequent scientific research plans. Academician Shao Anlin highlighted the efforts to promote Baotong Mining's application for a provincial-level demonstration project on comprehensive tailings utilization, aiming to secure special support for environmental governance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. He stated that the Jianlong-USTB Research Institute would continue to focus on green, low-carbon, and smart mining, deepen research and development in unmanned mining and green power mine technologies, expand areas such as mining-metallurgy integration and solid waste synergistic utilization, and rely on USTB to build a platform for "scientific research innovation + achievement transformation + talent cultivation" to promote technological implementation and assist in upgrading Jianlong's mining operations.
During the symposium, Zhang Zhixiang, Chairman of Jianlong Group, systematically elaborated on the strategic layout and key directions of the group's mining sector based on the national "dual carbon" goals and industrial chain security strategies. Regarding the high-quality wind and solar resources at Jindi Mining, Chairman Zhang Zhixiang pointed out the need to accelerate the development of a "zero-carbon" mine in Inner Mongolia and address traditional production challenges in the mining industry through technological upgrades. Zhang emphasized the importance of relying on USTB's scientific research support to build an integrated industrial system of "mining-beneficiation-processing-recycling," promote comprehensive resource utilization and deep processing of mineral products, and optimize water circulation by leveraging regional reservoir resources to address water scarcity in northern mining areas. The ultimate goal is to create a benchmark for modern "zero-carbon, circular, and intelligent" mines. Additionally, Zhang noted that the group would continue to benchmark against world-class mining enterprises, steadily expand into resource-rich regions such as Mongolia and Russia, and leverage metallurgical industries as the core for overseas mining-metallurgy integration, exporting Jianlong's technologies and production capacities to contribute to national industrial chain security.
The formal establishment of the Jianlong-USTB Mining Research Institute marks a new stage of deep integration between industry, academia, and research. As an important platform for Jianlong Group's core resource business, Huaxia Jianlong aims to build a world-class mining company. Relying on technological innovation, it will focus on comprehensive resource utilization and achieve systematic breakthroughs in key areas such as ultra-low-grade ore utilization, associated element recovery, solid waste recycling, intelligent mining, and zero-carbon mines. The research institute will serve as a "technological engine," promoting the close integration of USTB's cutting-edge research achievements with Huaxia Jianlong's industrial scenarios, jointly driving the mining industry toward safe, green, intelligent, and efficient transformation, and contributing to the high-quality development of China's mining industry.
Jin Wei, Executive Deputy General Manager of Huaxia Jianlong; Zhang Zong, Mining Expert; Wang Haiyang, Deputy Head of the Administrative Department of Jianlong Group; Liu Zhaowang, Head of the Production and Technology Department of Luanping Jianlong; Zhang Xiaofeng, Dean of the Institute for Technology Transfer at USTB; Su Bo, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Mineral Resources at USTB; Qu Fuming, Director of the Smart Mine Research Institute at the Institute of Mineral Resources at USTB; Zhang Siqi, Director of the Solid Waste Recycling Research Institute at the Institute of Mineral Resources at USTB; and Fu Yafeng, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Mineral Resources at USTB, participated in the inauguration ceremony.
